According to workers, working from home (WFH) helps workplace productivity but hurts workplace relationships.
In a recent survey conducted by the Pew Research Center in the US, 56% of those surveyed responded that WFH helps ‘get work done’, whilst 53% responded that WFH hurts “mentoring opportunities.”
The lack of mentoring opportunities may explain why younger employees have exhibited a tendency to work less from home compared to older employees.
Companies need to strike nuanced WFH policies as they seek to optimise employee retention, productivity and morale.
