Vaughan Constructions is partnering with leading IT solutions aggregator Synnex Australia and Van der Meer Consulting, on a purpose-built HQ and distribution centre for Synnex at Oakleigh South with an end value of circa $130 million.

According to Vaughan Constructions’ Development Manager, Jessica Topelson, the project, which will incorporate Synnex’s new Australian/New Zealand headquarters, is expected to create around 250 jobs during construction, while the operating business will create ongoing employment for up to 360 workers across the warehouse and office operations.

Ms Topelson said Synnex was seeking to significantly upgrade its logistics operations with what will be a state-of-the-art automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS).

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to work on such an exceptional project with Synnex and Van der Meer Consulting which will deliver the absolute latest in warehousing storage solutions,’’ Ms Topelson said.

Designed by i2C Architects, the 34,922 square metre GFA facility, to be constructed on a 44,000 square metre site, just around the corner from Synnex’s existing Oakleigh South facility, will comprise a fully automated (ASRS), 4283 square metre, 35 metre high warehouse, a second three level, 25,280 square metre warehouse, and a three level main office of 3273 square metres, along with external areas totalling a further 18,992 square metres.

CEO of Synnex Australia and New Zealand, Kee Ong, said Synnex was excited at the prospect of bringing the new facility online and cementing Synnex’s ongoing commitment to the local ICT market and the economy.

“This is a wonderful project that will make an enormous contribution to the efficiency of our operations, to our workplace environment and culture, the creation of local employment opportunities, and of course to significantly enhance our ability to distribute the highest quality products to our customers.

“We look forward to working with our highly regarded team of Vaughan Constructions and Van der Meer Consulting to bring the project to fruition,’’ Mr Ong said.

He said the investment was consistent with the company’s initiative to streamline distribution efficiency as part of a strategic five-year growth plan.

Project manager, Van der Meer Consulting’s Jason Liu, said the building was due for completion by late August 2024.
