Stockland Acquires 21.25ha Caterpillar site in Willawong

4 September 2020

Stockland has acquired Hastings Deering Caterpillar equipment's 21.25ha parcel of land in Brisbane’s south for $41.5 million.

The industrial development site at 182 Bowhill Rd, Willawong, 16km south of Brisbane, has a General Industry B zoning with dual frontage on Bowhill and Sherbrooke Roads at the northern end of the southside’s ‘Golden Triangle’ formed by Ipswich Road, Beaudesert Road and the Logan Motorway.

It is just south of Archerfield Airport and within reach of the Queensland Rail freight yard at Acacia Ridge, while the Logan Motorway provides a link to the Pacific Highway.

The transaction includes a short-term leaseback to Hastings Deering, which is based in Archerfield and had already undertaken major works at the site.

Stockland acquired the site in a joint venture with Fife Group. The latest JV acquisition builds on their existing partnership in the development of more than 70 hectares of logistics facilities in western Sydney.

CBRE’s Chris O'Brien, Edward Bull and Peter Turnbull managed the Expressions of Interest campaign on behalf of Hastings Deering.

“This Willawong site represented a rare opportunity to purchase a large, freehold and zoned parcel of industrial land within greater Brisbane,” Mr Turnbull said.

“Given the appeal of the short-term holding income, there was strong interest from offshore and onshore parties in a competitive on-market program.”
