New Era of Flexibility on Sydney’s North Shore with Stage One Launch of Chatswood Grand Residences
13 December 2024
The North Shore’s first live-work and intergenerational apartments are now one step closer, with award-winning developer Billbergia kicking off its sales campaign for Stage One of its $700 million Chatswood Grand Residences development.
Located at 8 Wilson Street, Chatswood Grand Residences is the CBD’s largest residential development in the last decade, and represents Billbergia’s first residential project on the North Shore.
With striking architecture by multidisciplinary firm PBD Architects, Chatswood Grand Residences will deliver a total of 332 new homes – 308 apartments plus 24 live-work units across two 36-storey mixed-use residential towers, rising above a two-level podium of retail and commercial space.
The sleek design of the towers means most apartments are corner configurations, maximising natural light, privacy and ventilation. The towers feature grand lobbies and a range of premium resort-style amenities including a luxe swimming pool on the podium level, spa, sauna/steam room, BBQ outdoor area, outdoor gym and an outdoor wellness space for yoga and tai chi.
The highly permeable ground plane provides excellent connectivity, with multiple landscaped, through-site pedestrian links forming a cross-shaped laneway connection with activated retail.
“We don’t just build buildings; we create new communities and Chatswood Grand Residences embodies this philosophy. We have a focus on providing a diverse range of floorplans to suit the modern and ever-changing lifestyle – from singles to young families and multi-generational families – while our live-work units offer unrivalled convenience for business operators,” said Saul Moran, Director of Development of Billbergia.
“Liveability and everyday convenience will be enhanced for residents by a range of community infrastructure, including an on-site 80-place childcare centre and retail and dining facilities along with abundant landscaped communal areas and premium resident amenities. Chatswood Metro and railway station is just minutes away, providing easy connectivity to public transport,” said Mr Moran.
Apartments are oversized and range from one-bedroom to four-bedroom floorplans, with generous balconies and wintergardens connecting indoor and outdoor living spaces. Multi-purpose/study areas have been included as standard to many of the layouts in a further nod to on-going hybrid working styles – and adding a further layer of flexibility for changing lifestyles.
Intergenerational floorplans will enable large families and multiple generations to live together – providing a separate self-contained wing with a bathroom, kitchenette and private balcony.
The Stage One release at Chatswood Grand Residences comprises 92 apartments located from Level 15 to 25 across both towers. Configurations include one-, two- and three-bedroom floorplans, with all apartments including parking.
“We have already been overwhelmed by early buyer interest, with 400 people attending a special preview event. Potential buyers include downsizers from surrounding North Shore suburbs and growing young families seeking lifestyle and amenity. Young professionals are also drawn to the one-bedroom apartments, and the inclusion of parking as standard is a definite point-of-difference, especially for one-bedroom units,” said Lulu Chen, Sales Manager at Billbergia.
“Early buyers can take advantage of special promotions and discounts. There is also a bespoke upgrade package, providing buyers with a custom-made TV unit, study desk and bar – aligned with apartment interiors finishes – delivering a sleek, cohesive look,” she said.
Prices start at $1,240,000 for a one-bedroom apartment with one car space, while two-bedroom units start at $1,705,000 and will also include one car space. Three-bedroom apartments are priced from $2,350,000.
There are just a handful of exclusive sub-penthouses and penthouses scheduled for future release; and some with a private rooftop entertaining deck, capturing the district views
Also earmarked for a future sales release, Chatswood Grand Residences’ 24 innovative live-work units are set to appeal to both small business owners and investors, with the potential for triple income streams unlocking the potential to live, work and operate a business on the same property title.
Live-work units will be available in a flexible range of floorplans combining living space with either creative studio, retail and commercial spaces.
Helping to address Sydney’s ongoing affordability and housing shortage issues, six levels within each tower at Chatswood Grand Residences are dedicated to affordable housing, unlocking access to approximately 59 homes for essential workers.
A showcase in industry-leading sustainability practices, Chatswood Grand Residences will boast a range of ESD features. Rainwater will be captured and irrigated into the development’s landscaped areas, gardens, and bathrooms for toilet flushing. The tower’s landscaped areas will act as a thermal buffer, while its rooftop gardens will reduce rainwater runoff and provide additional insulation. Solar panels will also be installed on the roof, supplementing the development’s energy usage with a renewable source.
Construction is set to commence early in 2025 with completion scheduled for 2028.
Chatswood Grand Residences’ sales office is located at 66 Archer Street, open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30am-5:30pm.
