New Data Centre for Rosehill

8 March 2020

Interconnection and data centre provider Equinix has acquired a site in Rosehill for its next DataCentre.

Equinix is the largest data centre provider in Australia with 15 International Business Exchange data centres spread across Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra, Adelaide and Brisbane.

In November last year, the group opened its eight data centre in Sydney, at Alexandria, with an initial investment of $224 million. The Alexandria facility is the largest to date for Equinix in Australia.

The 4.2ha Rosehill site at 8 Grand Ave was acquired by the group for $43.5M with settlement completed in February 2020. No development plans have yet been released by the group.

The site is zoned heavy industrial with an FSR of 1:1 and a 12 metre high limit. Historically, the Camellia area has been heavily contaminated by previous uses with chromium identified in the area back in 1989. A remediation strategy was developed and land holders are mindful of the challenges in building on the site.
