Nostra Homes and Balcon Group Donate New Home to Raise Funds for Beyond Blue
7 October 2026
Melbourne-based builder Nostra Homes and property developer Balcon Group have joined forces to build and donate a brand-new home in Clyde North, with proceeds from its sale to support Beyond Blue’s mental health services across Australia.
The charity home is being built within Balcon Group’s Orana community, with Nostra Homes donating the construction of its four-bedroom Lipari townhome and Balcon Group donating the land.
Construction has commenced, with the home expected to be completed in autumn 2027 before going under the hammer in early spring, with proceeds from the auction to be donated to Beyond Blue.
Nostra Homes founder and Managing Director Anthony Caruana said the initiative was particularly meaningful given the mental health challenges facing the building and construction industry.
“Building homes is about creating places where people feel safe, connected and supported, so partnering with Beyond Blue is a cause that’s incredibly meaningful to us.
“As a business, we’re passionate about supporting the mental wellbeing of our staff, trades, customers and the broader community, and we’re proud to contribute to an initiative that will help more Australians access support.
“Mental health remains one of the biggest challenges facing the building and construction industry. By working with Beyond Blue, we hope to encourage more conversations about mental health, increase awareness of the free support available and help create a culture where people feel comfortable reaching out before they reach crisis point,” Anthony said.
The four-bedroom, two-bathroom, two-car Lipari townhome will be built within Orana, one of Melbourne’s largest master-planned communities.
Spanning 274 hectares in Clyde North, Orana is set to deliver more than 4,000 homes and includes 42 hectares of parks, wetlands and waterways, six local parks, three wetland reserves, two recreation reserves and more than 10 kilometres of shared walking and cycling paths.
Balcon Group Development Director Jason Shaw said the community’s focus on connection and wellbeing made Orana a fitting location for the initiative.
“When we plan a community like Orana, we think about more than houses and streets. We think about how people will live, connect and build a sense of belonging. Donating the land for this home was an easy decision for us, and we’re incredibly proud to be working with Nostra Homes and Beyond Blue on a project that will make a meaningful difference.
“Moving to a new community is a big change. Many of our residents are young families who have moved away from the people they would normally lean on, and it takes time to build those connections again. That’s why we put so much thought into creating places and opportunities for people to meet, connect and feel part of the community. We hope this home helps start more conversations about mental health and reminds people that no one has to navigate difficult times alone,” said Jason.
Beyond Blue CEO Georgie Harman AO said funds raised through the auction would directly support Beyond Blue’s free, 24/7 Support Service.
“We’re incredibly grateful to Nostra Homes and Balcon Group for their generosity and vision in bringing this partnership to life. This is so much more than a beautiful home build, it’s an investment in the mental health of people across Australia and a powerful example of what can happen when businesses come together to make a difference,” Georgie said.
“Funds donated to Beyond Blue through the auction will directly support Beyond Blue’s free, 24/7 Support Service, helping thousands more people access mental health support when they need it most.
“We always want to be there for anyone who needs us with compassionate mental health support, at any time of the day or night. Every $66 raised through the auction means we can answer a call or chat.
“We know people working in building and construction face unique pressures, from demanding workloads and job uncertainty to financial stress and uncertainty about the future. That’s why partnerships like this are so important. They spark conversations in workplaces and communities and raise awareness of the support that’s available, ultimately helping more people get support earlier.
“The successful bidder on this new home is not only buying a beautiful new home, they’re also helping us give hope to others.”
