Moreton Bay Over-50s Community Unveils New Lifestyle and Recreational Facilities

More than 140 homeowners at Stockland Halcyon Serrata celebrated the opening of the new clubhouse, one of the only over-50s communities under development in the Moreton Bay region with completed lifestyle and recreational facilities.

Affectionately named ‘The Lodge’ by homeowners for its resemblance to a ski chalet, the new clubhouse and its surrounding facilities feature a range of resort-style amenities, including a 25-metre heated magnesium pool and spa, gym, pickleball courts, lawn bowling green, cinema, golf simulator, and a range of social and wellness spaces.

Stockland Development Director Andrew Astorquia said The Lodge had been designed to be much more than a clubhouse, creating a social hub where homeowners could stay active, build friendships and enjoy a strong sense of community.

“With close to 60 homes now settled and more than 100 people calling Halcyon Serrata home, it’s wonderful to see these facilities now open for current and future homeowners to enjoy,” Mr Astorquia said.

“The Lodge is intended to be the social heart of Halcyon Serrata, providing a welcoming space for homeowners to exercise, relax, socialise and spend time together.

“Alongside Stockland’s Halcyon Promenade nearby, it’s one of the few communities offering this experience before completion. Having these facilities open so early is a significant point of difference for the community and means our homeowners can enjoy the lifestyle they envisaged from the day they move in.”

The Lodge was officially opened during a celebration featuring live music, with City of Moreton Bay Division 2 Councillor Mark Booth joining homeowners for the opening celebration.

Among those were Halcyon Serrata’s first homeowners, Stephen and Genevieve Pitt, who moved into the community late last year.

“We’ve watched Halcyon Serrata grow from a small, close-knit group before Christmas into the thriving community it is today,” Mr Pitt said.

“There are now too many names to remember, but there is always a friendly wave and a smile, and we’re sure the opening of The Lodge will help those friendships and connections continue to grow.”

The couple explored several over-50s communities before choosing Stockland Halcyon Serrata, attracted by its turnkey homes and plans for The Lodge.

“We loved the early illustrations of the English country-style Lodge. The facilities were a major part of the appeal,” Mr Pitt said.

“Seeing the completed Lodge for the first time was incredible. It is an impressive, modern and warm space that will nurture many social gatherings.

“I haven’t missed my morning laps in the 25-metre pool since it opened, and the gym will be high on our list because remaining active is important to us. The sports bar will also be a favourite for a few drinks and a game of pool with our new friends or watching the Sunday afternoon footy.

The celebration also included the unveiling of a kookaburra sculpture created by Moreton Bay chainsaw artist Luke Sheehan as a gift from Stockland to homeowners. Positioned near the reserve area behind The Lodge, the sculpture reflects Halcyon Serrata’s natural setting and the local wildlife regularly encountered by homeowners.

“We hear laughing kookaburras and curlews every day and watch possums make their way from the reserve each night, so the kookaburra is a wonderful representation of the nature surrounding us,” Mrs Pitt said.

Set on a scenic 12-hectare site centred around its own nature reserve in Burpengary East – the heart of the Moreton Bay region – Halcyon Serrata will deliver 250 low-maintenance homes designed to help meet the needs of Australia’s growing over-50s population.
