Colliers Agribusiness is thrilled to announce the once-in-a-lifetime sale of three pristine islands nestled at the mouth of the River Murray within the Australian Ramsar Wetland Site.
Mundoo Island Station is a working cattle and sheep station with a treasured history owned by the same family since 1922. The property offers immense privacy, only a 1.5-hours’ drive south of Adelaide and minutes from Goolwa and the stunning South Coast on the Fleurieu Peninisula, one of South Australia’s most popular coastal holiday destinations.
Tim Altschwager, Colliers Agribusiness, said, “We’re delighted to offer this unique landholding for sale. Mundoo Island, Ewe Island, and Long Island represent unparalleled opportunities for ecotourism, natural capital investment, and responsible development.”
The islands collectively span approximately 1,907 hectares (4,712 acres). Mundoo Island, the largest, covers around 1,197 hectares, including 885 hectares of freehold land and 312 hectares of perpetual leasehold land. Ewe and Long Islands, totalling about 710 hectares, are held under perpetual lease.
Situated within the Coorong, a region renowned for its freshwater and saltwater ecosystems, these islands are a sanctuary for wildlife and a crucial habitat for migratory birds and native species.
With their exclusive Coorong fresh and saltwater frontage, the islands offer stunning views and direct access to pristine waters from various dwellings and shacks. They hold significant potential for eco-friendly developments such as eco-lodges, birdwatching stations, and sustainable retreats. “Mundoo Island is anticipated to attract a diverse range of buyers, including established farming groups seeking to incorporate eco-conscious practices, environmental organisations focused on conservation, investors interested in natural capital ventures, and government agencies dedicated to protecting vulnerable ecological areas.”
