Heathcote Grounds Site Ready for Development

1 November 2020

The controversial redevelopment of the Heathcote Hall site in Sydney’s south appears to be nearing commencement with the Plenary Group taking control of the site and kicking off marketing plans.

A Development Application for the redevelopment of the historic site was approved in December 2019 by the Sydney South Planning Panel after a three-year campaign by local residents failed to stop the development.

The project includes the refurbishment and restoration of the 1887 mansion (see below) and construction of 35 townhouses and 20 apartments, with extensive landscaping, in the grounds of the 4.5 hectare estate.

The panel stipulated an occupation certificate could not be issued to any element of the residential development until the restoration and completion of Heathcote Hall and surrounds was completed.

The original proponents of the site, Fuzortinn Pty Ltd, a consortium led by Nathan Fuz, Robert Orth (both of CD Constructions Group) and John Innes (CEO of Pariter) have transferred control of the site to the Plenary Group in October this year for $10.56m.

The Plenary Group is one of the Asia Pacific’s largest public-private partnership firms delivering or managing public infrastructure in the areas of transport, health, education, water and defence.
