Geelong commercial boom continues as prominent office tower reaches capacity

Geelong’s office boom continues with the announcement of CBD office tower, 60 Moorabool Street, reaching 100 per cent capacity following three recent tenancy agreements.

Co-owned by Quintessential and GMHBA, the recent leasing agreements with GMHBA and IAG will bring a variety of services to the landmark office building and take 60 Moorabool Street to full occupancy.

Expanding the GMHBA footprint in the building beyond the three floors it already occupies, plans were announced to activate the 770sqm ground floor space to develop and run a new multidisciplinary medical hub, expected to be in operation towards the second half of the year.

The Geelong Hub will provide access to private health insurance, dental, eye care, medical, and physiotherapy services. It will be available to all members of the community, not just those insured with GMHBA.

GMHBA chief executive David Greig said 60 Moorabool was a vibrant and modern building, attracting a professional workforce excited to work in the Geelong CBD.

“We have a team of almost 300 staff members who work in our head office and the Geelong Hub will be an important addition to the company’s Health and Branch Network,” he said.

“Establishing a state-of-the-art hub will provide the community with improved access to high-quality medical care at a time when the demand for primary and allied health services is growing in Geelong.”

A year after welcoming KPMG as a tenant, 60 Moorabool Street’s recently secured tenancy agreements brought the CBD tower up to full occupancy. It is the latest indication that commercial office remains strong in Geelong, countering the narrative around the performance of the office market sector.

General Manager – Asset Management at Quintessential, Julian McVilly, said, “We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone. It is another illustration of the flight to quality we are seeing in the market, and 60 Moorabool Street is a high- quality building with great amenities and a prime location.

“60 Moorabool perfectly encapsulates Quintessential’s commitment to Geelong and our belief in it as a major regional hub for business.

“The prime location and state-of-the-art facilities offer businesses a great environment, which will play a role in attracting and retaining talent in a growing market.”

With a significant presence in the region, Quintessential has become one of the most prominent developers and commercial landlords in Geelong following the completion of several premium developments.

In addition to 60 Moorabool Street, Quintessential has delivered the City of Greater Geelong’s headquarters, Wurriki Nyal, and 1 Malop Street in the heart of the CBD. The latest project from Quintessential in Geelong is at 20 Gheringhap Street, close to Wurriki Nyal, which is now leasing and will see the delivery of another state-of- the-art commercial office building.

By bringing state-of-the-art office spaces to Geelong, and great amenities that activate space and revitalise the city, the boutique property developer has attracted renowned names like KPMG to set up regional offices in Geelong.
