Stockland starts construction at Stockland Lyra – a new community for Beveridge

3 July 2022

Stockland, one of Australia’s largest diversified property groups, was joined by Mitchell Shire and future residents today to mark the start of construction at Stockland Lyra, a $555 million community in Beveridge.

Located 46.7 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, the 140-hectare community will become home to approximately 1,400 households. Construction is now underway on the early civil works to prepare the site for residents to build their new homes, which are expected to start from mid-2023.

Stockland Senior Development Manager, Jackie Kent said: “We are thrilled to be starting construction at Stockland Lyra, and marking the start of this journey at Beveridge with council and residents.

“Mitchell Shire is one of Victoria’s fastest-growing outer metropolitan municipalities, with more than 90,000 people expected to call this community home by 2030. With construction now underway at Stockland Lyra in Beveridge, we are helping to meet the strong demand from homebuyers seeking connection to the city at an affordable price point.

“We are excited to continue building our footprint within the northern corridor, following the success of Stockland Highlands, Cloverton, Katalia and Mernda,” said Ms Kent.

Stockland Lyra has been thoughtfully designed, and in the future will feature a local town centre and more than 23 hectares of open space and wetlands to support active outdoor living. Other proposed infrastructure for the growing area includes Beveridge Train Station and a primary and secondary government school.

Mitchell Shire Mayor Cr Bill Chisholm said: “This signals the commencement of one of Mitchell Shire’s largest residential masterplanned communities and we look forward to partnering with Stockland to deliver outstanding outcomes for our emerging Beveridge community.

“This is an exciting time for Mitchell Shire as we become the next face of Melbourne’s growth story. This development will be transformational for our region and we look forward to welcoming new and prospective residents.

“We welcome positive urban design as we continue to build connected, vibrant communities,” said Mr Chisolm.

Future resident Abdul Wasay joined Stockland and City of Mitchell Shire today to mark the start of construction of their future community and said: “Our family is looking forward to becoming future residents of Stockland Lyra, and joining the Beveridge community. We cannot wait to start our new life in this beautiful community.”
