Queensland Mountain Resort a Rare Chance for Tourism Operators

22 February 2022

A unique farm stay accommodation facility, Bestbrook Mountain Resort, has been listed for sale as a freehold going concern via an Expressions of Interest campaign with leading agency Savills.

Located at Tregony in Queensland’s Southern Downs Region, the Resort is zoned Rural and occupies a site area of some 146 hectares, fronting the Cunningham Highway.

Popular with both families and schools, Bestbrook Mountain Resort features a range of accommodation, including four bunkhouses (23 rooms) that provide backpacker-style accommodation for up to 62 people and self-contained cabins. It also has camping sites stretched along 1.6 kilometres around the property’s own gap creek.

The Resort also has a range of facilities including a conference area, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, children’s playground, and shop.

Operating as a family-run business, Bestbrook Mountain Resort offers guests a farm stay experience with a range of activities including horse riding, bush walking, animal feeding, billy tea and damper making, whip and boomerang lessons and butter making demonstrations.

ā€œWhilst there is potential to redevelop and reposition the asset, it would be perfect for another tourism operator to acquire and continue as a similar farm stay or even upgrade to a more boutique nature retreat-style of accommodation,ā€ said Tony Bargwanna, National Director – Hotels at Savills.

Domestic travel remains popular in Australia, with KPMG recently reporting that an overwhelming 90% of all trips in the last decade have been domestic travel.

ā€œThe outlook for domestic travel and tourism remains strong, particularly since the COVID-19 pandemic and most recently, relaxing of local borders and travel requirements unleashing crowds of people keen to travel our country again,ā€ he said.

Tregony is one of the major gateways to the Darling Downs and is located approximately 120 kilometres south-west of Brisbane’s CBD.

Expressions of Interest will close on 11 April, 2022.
