Prominent Barkly Tablelands Breeder Block Benmara Station Hits the Market
17 March 2025
Renowned Northern Territory cattle station Benmara has been listed for sale on behalf of Hartree Partners with price expectations of around $40 million.
Spanning a total area of approximately 451,176 hectares, with an estimated carrying capacity of 17,500 Adult Equivalents (AE), Benmara offers substantial potential for further development and expansion.
Situated in the esteemed Barkly Tablelands region, approximately 100 kilometres west of the Queensland/Northern Territory border, Benmara presents a rare opportunity to acquire a large-scale cattle breeding property with significant growth and income diversification potential.
CBRE Agribusinessā Andrew Loughnan and John Harrison are managing the Expressions of Interest campaign. The property, along with its clean skin livestock, will be sold on an āAs Is, Where Isā basis.
Interest is expected from Australian pastoralists, institutions, overseas investors, and high-net-worth domestic investors, particularly those seeking a large-scale breeding operation to support a broader domestic supply chain.
āBenmara has been largely destocked over the past 18 months. During this period, the property has benefited from good rainfall and better pasture growth, making the clean skin cattle an attractive prospect for an astute operator,ā Mr. Loughnan said.
Benmara features diverse landscapes and pasture types, including lateritic and sandstone plains, alluvial floodplains, granite plains, clay plains, and sandstone hills.
āBenmara boasts secure and well-developed water infrastructure with further scale for expansion. The current owners are also undertaking a significant fencing program, replacing both sections internally and along the eastern boundary,ā CBREās Mr Harrison added.
Existing improvements include a well-appointed homestead compound comprising two residences, staff quarters, a kitchen, a storage shed, machinery shedding and a cattle yard.
The Expressions of Interest campaign closes 1 May 2025.
