Planning Approval Secured for Hope & Autumn Apartments, A New Era of Sustainable Living in Geelong West
10 September 2025
UP Property has officially received planning approval for its landmark Hope & Autumn Apartments development in Geelong West, marking a significant milestone for sustainable urban living in Victoria. The $60 million project, located at 51–53 Hope Street and 66–76 Autumn Street, will deliver 56 architecturally designed apartments across two medium-rise buildings, setting a new benchmark for context-sensitive, environmentally conscious development.
Designed by the award-winning Austin Maynard Architects, Hope & Autumn reflects a bold vision for medium-density housing that respects Geelong West’s heritage character while embracing modern sustainability. The project prioritises owner-occupier living, with spacious one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments tailored for downsizers, families, and professionals seeking long-term homes in a vibrant, walkable neighbourhood.
The development was fast-tracked through the Victorian Government’s newly established Development Facilitation Program; an initiative aimed at accelerating high-quality housing projects that align with strategic planning goals. Tract Consultants led the approval process, with Senior Principal Town Planner Nick Clements highlighting the project’s alignment with Geelong’s long-term housing targets.
“Geelong is projected to accommodate 128,600 new dwellings by 2051, with 77,500 in established areas. Hope & Autumn is a textbook example of how infill development can contribute meaningfully to that vision,” said Mr Clements. “Its innovative design, expansive landscaping, and environmental credentials made for a seamless approval process, and we’re proud to see it recognised by the State Government, the Office of the Victorian Government Architect, and the City of Greater Geelong.”
UP Property Managing Director Marcus Jankie emphasised the collaborative nature of the project: “This approval reflects years of thoughtful engagement with the local community and a shared commitment to delivering a legacy project for Geelong West. Hope & Autumn is more than just housing—it’s a blueprint for sustainable, inclusive urban living.”
Located adjacent to the bustling Pakington Village, the development offers residents immediate access to boutique shopping, premium grocers, cafés, parks, and public transport. With construction timelines linked to the upcoming sales launch, Hope & Autumn is poised to become a defining example of Victoria’s evolving planning landscape—where sustainability, design excellence, and community integration lead the way.
