Piara Waters Resort Wins 2 Top Awards

Providence Lifestyle Group has reaffirmed its position as a leader in over-50s lifestyle communities, taking home two prestigious accolades at the UDIA WA Awards for Excellence 2025, including the highest honour, the Russel Perry Award for Urban Development Excellence

The company’s flagship Piara Waters Lifestyle Resort, a 244-home premium community, also secured the Seniors Living Award, recognised for its innovative approach to creating vibrant, connected spaces for older Australians.

Providence Lifestyle Group Managing Director John Wood said his team was incredibly proud to receive the accolades in the 30th anniversary year of the awards.

“As leaders in our field, we’re thrilled to be holistically redefining and elevating over 50s living in Perth, creating modern luxury communities that homeowners can downsize to and thrive in,” said Mr Wood, a land lease sector specialist for nearly three decades.

“It’s truly rewarding to receive validation for the vision and outstanding attention to detail on show at Piara Waters Resort and inspiring that it was recognised for its deep commitment to wellbeing, innovation and connection.”

Mr Wood said Providence’s depth of experience was central to its success in helping West Australians downsize without compromising on lifestyle.

“Our executive team has previously developed 12 over 50s lifestyle communities, with 10 of them in WA, taking them through the entire value chain – from site identification to mature communities,” he explained.

“This has given us the ability to have a deep understanding of what the current generation of downsizers want in a home and lifestyle and helped us to create a new formula that is really hitting the spot for our wonderful homeowners.

“The success of Piara Waters Lifestyle Resort under the Providence brand is our elevated, holistic approach of blending beautiful, architecturally designed modern and low maintenance homes with exceptional resort facilities, wellbeing and fitness spaces, and a flourishing sense of social connectivity and community.

“Combining this with no exit fees, weekly affordability and smart technology have been important ingredients that can be underestimated for the new generation of baby boomers.”

Statistics released in May 2024 revealed 710, 000 Australians intended to retire in the next five years, and it’s projected older people in Australia will make up between 21 and 23% of the total population by 2066.

“The land lease development industry is one of Australia’s hottest sectors and to meet increasing demand, we have five more of these future-focused gated communities in the pipeline from Mandurah to Two Rocks,” said Mr Wood.

“During the poor performing, pre-COVID years, our team was building a land bank of properties to accommodate the predicted demand in WA, and it is pleasing that those decisions from five years ago are now delivering wonderful places to live and thrive.”

“With an aging population and more people looking for secure, low maintenance lifestyle options, Piara Waters is an exemplar of outstanding quality in design and delivery,” UDIA WA CEO Tanya Steinbeck said.

“The sense of pride and community made this project a clear stand out with our independent judging panel, and it was fantastic to see several residents in attendance on Saturday night to help celebrate their big win,” Ms Steinbeck said.

The project features 244 architecturally designed homes with solar panels and battery storage, nestled within a masterplanned, walkable community.  The village also boasts a range of amenities including cinema, swimming pools, dog park, lawn bowls green and multiple recreation zones.

Piara Waters Lifestyle Resort will now represent Western Australia at the UDIA National Awards for Excellence
