A new boutique hotel development has just been approved for 483 Old South Head Road, Rose Bay. It will be a 19 room boutique urban hotel with ground-floor retail.

PLACE Studio says:

“This mixed-use proposal for Rose Bay integrates a vibrant ground floor retail offering with a boutique hotel above, creating a finely tuned architectural response to the site’s urban context.

“The building’s sculpted brick form and vertical apertures mediate between the rhythm of the street and the softness of the surrounding landscape.

“At street level, a generous colonnade frontage is designed to support food and beverage tenancies that spill into the public domain, enhancing the pedestrian experience and reinforcing Rose Bay’s cosmopolitan character.

“Above, the boutique hotel is conceived as a calm retreat — its rooms framed by arched openings, softened by cascading greenery, and anchored by a material palette that balances warmth and restraint.

“This is a building designed not only to serve but to elevate its setting — through scale, texture, and a deep focus on human experience.”
