Frasers are continuing their commitment to the Property Industry Foundation (PIF) and the Lighthouse Foundation with another new housing project in Clayton.
The PIF House at Clayton is a new purpose home built for at-risk youth and forms part of the PIF House Program, which launched in 2017 with the aim to build 125 bedrooms for at-risk and homeless youth in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland by mid-2021. Live-in carers and counsellors in the homes provide support, mentoring and life skills to help rebuild the lives of young people and help them transition to independent living.
“Frasers Property has been able to keep this project moving during this difficult time for the whole community,” Sarah Bloom, General Manager Development Victoria at Frasers Property Australia.
“It’s been a rewarding experience for everyone working on the project to have something positive to focus on. We are grateful to be part of a dedicated team working hard to ensure PIF House Clayton is ready to welcome its residents’ home by mid next year.”
Frasers Property is sponsoring and building the PIF House Clayton, which will eventually house up to four disadvantaged youth and two live-in carers, cared for by the Lighthouse Foundation. A host of other companies and organisations are also playing a part, donating materials, time, skills, and expertise to the project.
“The current challenges facing our whole community highlight how important it is to look after our most vulnerable in society. This is our way, as a creator of homes, to provide one of the most basic needs – safe shelter – for young people at risk of homelessness,” Ms Bloom says.
The six-bedroom house has been designed to create a warm, friendly, nurturing and calming atmosphere in a home environment for the young people and carers that will live there.
