Luxury car dealership to open in Sydney following inner-city property purchase
1 February 2022A luxury car dealer will open a Sydney showroom following the purchase of a high-profile property in Rushcutters Bay.
Srecko Lorbek, owner of Lorbek Luxury Cars, bought the property at Shop 1, 137-141 Bayswater Road for $2.5 million in a deal negotiated by Knight Frank agents Demi Carigliano, Anthony Pirrottina and James Masselos following a Private Treaty campaign.
The 282sq m ground floor showroom with rear lane access also has two lock-up garage car spaces and 507sq m of rooftop space with signage and future development potential, and views of Sydney Harbour.
High-end luxury car dealer Mr Lorbek, who owns two car dealership showroom sites in Melbourne and has been in the luxury car business for over 30 years, will expand and open a Sydney showroom for the first time at the Rushcutters Bay property to cater for customer demand from Sydney.
âCurrently we sell on average five or six cars a week to Sydney buyers, with so many clients flying down from Sydney regularly to visit our Port Melbourne showroom to talk about cars and enjoy the Lorbek experience,â Mr Lorbek said.
âIn the last five or more years we have had an increasing amount of people asking us almost daily to open a showroom in Sydney and bring our car passion to Sydney.
âIt was the logical option to open a showroom in Sydney, and this property provided the ideal location and perfect addition to the Lorbek portfolio.â
Mr Lorbek said he had been looking in the Rushcutters Bay area for around three years to find the right property for the Sydney showroom.
âWe didnât need anything too big, but we wanted something close to our client demographic with great exposure to passing traffic, and this property was just right.
âItâs a small showroom to showcase some of our very special cars and it has fantastic rear lane access directly into the property that makes easy for our car freighters to pick up and deliver cars.
âThe location is also easily accessible for our clients from Melbourne and Sydney, and is within walking distance to a home I have just purchased on Sydney Harbour.
âThe property is also in the immediate vicinity of several other luxury car brand dealerships.â
Mr Lorbek said the Sydney showroom, which will open in July this year with a minimalist sleek fitout like the dealershipâs Melbourne showroom, with strategic Automotive Memorabilia, would also host events, as the dealership does at its Melbourne showroom.
Mr Pirrottina said there had been strong buyer interest during the sale campaign, including from a number of local owner-occupiers, with one of the key attractions of the property being its prime location.
âRushcutters Bay is a prominent location in the eastern suburbs underpinned by excellent transport infrastructure, proximity to the Sydney CBD, major universities, beaches, and it has premium eatery, retail and entertainment options,â he said.
âThis property also had the benefit of high exposure, being situated on a traffic-controlled intersection, with 65,000 vehicles passing by daily.
âWith only a handful of prime retail offerings located on major arterial road networks offered for sale in the eastern suburb at any given time, this opportunity was rare, so we had significant interest from buyers keen to capitalise.â
Mr Pirrottina said the property had been suitable for a wide range of potential uses including office, retail, showroom, food and beverage, but was ideal for Lorbek Luxury cars due to the exposure and prominent inner-city location.
âWhen Lorbek move into the space later this year it will definitely become a landmark in Sydneyâs East,â he said.
