JLL achieves a first for WA – achieving WELL Gold certification for its corporate HQ

21 September 2022

JLL’s Perth headquarters at Central Park has been awarded a WELL Gold rating from the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) and a 5 Star Green Star certification from the Green Building Council of Australia, as the global real estate firm continues to live up to its purpose to Shape the future of real estate for a better world.

JLL’s Perth office is the only office in WA that is certified in WELL Gold on the WELL’s public projects directory.

A combined effort between JLL’s Design and Project teams, the JLL Perth corporate office showcases innovative ways of working with a clear focus on wellness, innovation and technology.

JLL’s Managing Director (WA), Angelo Amara said, We set the goal of achieving WELL Gold and 5 Star Green Star status even before design of the office began, knowing that adequate planning would be critical to success. The certifications demonstrate the ability of JLL and our specialised energy and sustainability experts to assist in achieving our green initiatives and obtaining outstanding WELL and Green Star recognitions for our office.

“This achievement is a testament to JLL’s focus and commitment to enhancing our team’s health and well-being in the space where we work and play. We take pride in how the design of our office fosters well-being for our team. Elements such as energy efficiency, sustainability, facilities and materials were carefully selected in the early planning stages to follow the standards of the two certifications – WELL and Green Star.”

The real estate firm’s WA corporate office includes low-environmental impact and low volatile organic compound emitting materials to provide a comfortable environment that enhances staff well-being but is also sustainable. Air quality sensors are installed throughout the office to ensure PM2.5 (particulate matter), CO2 and the total of volatile organic compounds levels are in line with stringent WELL standards.

JLL also had a highly efficient LED lighting design adopted in the office with 40% reduction in power density compared to the National Construction Code (NCC) 2019. Coupled with occupancy and daylight sensors, the operational energy consumption has been further reduced by thoughtful light zoning controls.

JLL’s Senior Director, Work Dynamics Lead (WA), Adam Edmunds said, “To add to the success of the design and build of the Perth head office, JLL was also honored to win CoreNet Global’s Workplace Innovation Award recently. We designed and built this office to be everything a workplace should be. Its focus on health and wellness is unparalleled in the Perth CBD office market, and it is designed to support dynamic working and foster community and collaboration.”

Being certified in global and nationally recognised awards such as WELL and Green Star for JLL’s own office demonstrates the commitment of the global real estate firm through its sustainability initiative, Shaping the future of real estate for a better world. The initiative emphasises a sustainable approach within JLL’s offices and across its work with clients, by setting a global emission reductions target, as well as involving engagement with society through educational and volunteer work relating to environmental awareness.

Mr Amara said, “This latest WELL and Green Star certifications shows that we walk the talk when it comes to sustainability. It demonstrates our commitment to creating a sustainable workplace that is healthy and productive for our people and our clients, and that puts human experience at its heart.”
