A new early learning to Year 12 school is planned to open at ID_Land’s circa 1,875-lot Dawn community, located 45-minutes south-west from Brisbane’s CBD in Walloon, after entering an agreement with King’s Christian College.

To be delivered in stages over several years, the first phase of the project is scheduled to open in January 2026, with the initial build comprising an Early Learning Centre catering to children from two and a half years old, and Primary School offering Prep to Year 3.

Each subsequent year will see the school expand, adding one year level annually until Year 12 is fully operational in 2035, with capacity for approximately 1,800 students in total once complete.

ID_Land sold 8.7-hectares within the Dawn Walloon project, currently home to over 2,000 residents, to the College, which will now deliver a state-of-the-art school with specialist learning facilities for music, science, industrial design, performing arts, food technology, and sports. Future facilities earmarked for delivery include a sports field, indoor sports centre, resource centre and library, and auditorium.

Complementing the school facilities, an on-site Community Centre will deliver a church, playgroup, before and after school care, outside school hours care, and more. The centre will introduce new amenities, services, and benefits to the wider local community beyond the school’s day-to-day operations.

Aside from servicing the immediate Dawn community within which the campus will sit, it’s expected the new facility will serve as a hub for the surrounding Walloon district, which reported a population of 2,305 people including 625 families in the ABS 2021 census. Since acquiring the site in 2021, ID_Land has delivered and settled over 230 new home lots within the project.

ID_Land’s strategic partnership with King’s Christian College is driven by the group’s long-term strategy of supporting infrastructure and community services within its developments, to benefit the broader community as well, according to General Manager Nick Bosco.

“ We’ve partnered with King’s Christian College not only to deliver a great school for our immediate residents within Dawn, but to continue building and growing the incredible Walloon community which we are proud to be part of. We are committed to contributing positively to the broader Walloon community, recognising we are home to hundreds of growing families who we are invested in supporting and growing alongside,” he said.

The integration of community facilities into the school reflects King’s Christian College and ID_Land’s joint commitment to fostering a connected and engaged local community.

King’s Christian College Executive Principal Rees Davis explained the College’s commitment to developing community-focused schools in south-east Queensland.

“ The King’s Christian College Board is looking for opportunities to build community-focused school complexes in rapidly growing areas near Brisbane,” said Mr Davis.

“ In 2015 we opened a school campus at Pimpama in the northern Gold Coast and another in 2020 in Logan Village. We have found that our type of school has been very popular with young families moving to these fast-developing areas and are looking forward to working with ID_Land to bring our school and community complex to the families of Walloon.” he said.
