Hillbrook breaks ground on Specialist Disability Accommodation in Werribee

3 August 2022

Builder and developer Hillbrook has officially commenced construction on Arche, a Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) project located at 18 Anderson St, Werribee.

Hillbrook is partnering with Claro Aged Care and Disability Services (Claro) to launch the initiative, a leading national organisation that provides customer-focused aged care and disability supports and services across Australia.

The residential development will comprise a single-level, three-bedroom dwelling, adhering to SDA standards. It will be built with a range of accessible features to help residents live more independently and allow additional supports to be delivered more effectively.

Once built, Claro will manage the property and provide high-quality, round-the-clock care for the residents at Arche.

Hillbrook will work closely with the NDIS to partner with an extensive range of specialised carers, occupational therapists, SDA and Supported Independent Living (SIL) providers to create safe and accessible homes for Victoria’s diversely-abled community.

One of the first residents set to move into Arche upon completion is ‘Sam’, who had a severe stroke five years ago, at the age of 45. His brother Vince said, “Sam has been in an aged care facility for the last five years, during which time we have been trying to relocate him to an independent living facility for a better quality of life. With help from Sam’s support care team, we have managed to secure a place for him at Hillbrook’s Arche, which is great news for him and the family.”

Tristan Angelini, Managing Director at Hillbrook, said, “creating Specialist Disability Accommodation has long been in the works for Hillbrook. We have spent the last 14 years fostering connection through property development that brings the community together, and we’re proud to be delivering this exceptional SDA development for the Werribee community.

“This project could not be possible without the support of Claro, a company that shares our mission to support independent living for diversely-abled residents across Victoria by ensuring that everybody has equal access to a comfortable place to live.”

Kristy Simmonds, General Manager, Accommodation at Claro Aged Care and Disability Services, said, “Claro is committed to providing high-quality care and supports to NDIS participants and is pleased to be able to offer this category of supports to the Wyndham community.

“We are excited to be partnering with a builder and developer of the calibre of Hillbrook, using our experience as an SDA and SIL provider to ensure the design aspects of the development meet the needs of participants, enabling them to live independently and achieve their goals.”

Bruce Bromley, Managing Director at Equal Access Group, added, “SDA projects such as Hillbrook’s Arche are incredibly important to assist those with extreme functional impairment, or very high support needs to access tailored services and support, ensuring they receive

the best care and above all else, gain independence to take charge of their daily lives. I am looking forward to seeing this exciting project get off the ground!”
