Funlab heads to Moorabbin’s Morris Moor for the “fun of it”

2 May 2023

Good times are guaranteed at Morris Moor. Funlab, Australia’s premiere creator of competitive socialising experiences, will open venues at Moorabbin’s new mixed-use Morris Moor complex.

The new Funlab is set to open late this year with its Holey Moley, Archie Brothers and Zero Latency.

“Funlab is always looking for ways to offer competitive socialising options to Australians and Morris Moor is a fantastic location to bring this dream to life. We can’t wait to join the Morris Moor project and bring some of our signature brands to a great precinct in a fast-growing area of Melbourne” says Sam Milionis, Funlab Chief Development Officer.

Funlab operates 42 venues across 5 brands with fun at the core of all that they do.

Up Property bought the site in 2015 with a vision to deliver a sought-after commercial community. The 6.3-hectare site has eclectic spaces across eight buildings with 51,000sqm of commercial and industrial space. While others saw the site as a knock down job, Up Property embraced an urban renewal challenge. From a 1960’s manufacturing hub to a dynamic work and social hub, Morris Moor is a go-to destination in Melbourne’s booming southeast suburbs. Once completed, the bayside landmark will have a $200 million end value.

Just 15km from the city, the Moorabbin precinct is masterfully delivering experiences once reserved for trendy inner-city suburbs.

“Up Property acquired the corner site with the aim to retain and transform its existing buildings into world-class contemporary spaces to work and play while still celebrating its heritage,” says Up Property General Manager Marcus Jankie.

“We welcome Funlab to the Morris Moor family, in another coup and show of confidence for the development,” Jankie added

Morris Moor is leading the way as a one stop shop for work and leisure with an enviable range of hospo businesses including Stomping Ground Brewery Co, Penny for Pound bakery and cult burger joint Royal Stacks in the mix.

Funlab is leasing 2428sqm in the latest stage at Morris Moor. More than 150 innovative businesses, from traditional commercial offices, to start-ups, warehouses, and manufacturing, are up and running on the site, attracting 750 to 1000 people each day.

Jankie said the Up Property Morris Moor development married the needs of the future while giving a nod to the site’s unique heritage and culture.

“Connecting the community with a curated lifestyle and culture, Morris Moor will deliver orchestrated experiences. Not just for workdays but for every day.

“Morris Moor is realising our vision in uniting a diverse range of businesses, integrating traditional office space, hospitality, leisure, warehouses and co-working spaces, childcare, and wellness services to create an innovative and creative cultural landmark destination” he added.

Up Property’s Morris Moor is a favourite with the market.

Of the 12,500sqm of new space set to open this year over 60% has been secured.
