Charter Hall welcomes Aware Super to 555 Collins Street

8 December 2021

Charter Hall Group welcomed Aware Super as its latest new tenant customer at the $800 million new premium grade office project knows as 555 Collins Street in the core of Melbourne’s CBD.

Aware Super, one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, is set to occupy six high rise floors of the building, bringing the building’s pre-commitment level to 44% inclusive of the initial Amazon partnership, well ahead of scheduled completion in 2023.

Charter Hall will work closely with Aware Super to deliver a future-focused workplace of 8,000sqm designed to foster collaboration and to meet the changing needs of its people and its members.

Aware Super will join anchor tenant Amazon Web Services at 555 Collins Street, which upon completion will become a premier destination for business, lifestyle and community. 555 Collins Street will be carbon neutral in both construction and operations, in line with Charter Hall’s commitment to sustainability across its platform.

Charter Hall Office CEO, Carmel Hourigan, said, “We are very pleased to be partnering with Aware Super at 555 Collins Street to provide its team in Melbourne with a forward-thinking, technology-enabled, sustainable workplace that will serve its people for years to come. This agreement is a fantastic outcome for the development as it is now 44% pre-committed, which is exceptional at this stage of development. It underpins the confidence that our tenant customers have in us to deliver purpose-built workplaces for their people and the important role that the workplace continues to play in productivity, innovation, collaboration and culture as cities re-emerge post-COVID.”

Aware Super Group Executive People & Workplace, Steve Hill, said, “We’re pleased that consolidating our three Melbourne CBD addresses into one exciting new development will also bring significant savings to our business over the term of the lease, which is a great result for both our members and our people.

“We’re strong believers in the value of a physical workspace – and our people agree. While the future will see us continue to embrace a hybrid model of working, the reality is that enabling our Melbourne team to be physically together as part of their working rhythm is good for our people, our culture and ultimately the outcomes that we can provide for our members and clients. Our team includes a mix of roles from member service to financial planning, to traditional office-type roles and into our growing internal teams in Investments and Administration. As a result, we expect our new space will play a central role for our Melbourne-based team over the coming years.”

555 Collins will be part of a new $1.5 billion office precinct, comprised of 84,000sqm of premium grade office space and over 2,300sqm of retail across two towers.

Located in the heart of Melbourne’s burgeoning Midtown, the site boasts three prominent street frontages. With almost 50 metres of northern frontage on Collins Street, 100 metres of frontage on King Street, including the adjoining Charter Hall-owned 55 King Street, and direct access to Flinders Lane, the combined 4,620sqm site provides a unique opportunity for leading business.
