Buildcorp Foundation to match donations made to Lifeline Australia this Giving Day, Wednesday 13 March 2024
4 March 2024
All Australians, businesses and organisations are being encouraged to dig deep on Wednesday 13 March for Lifeline Australiaâs annual Giving Day, proudly supported by the Buildcorp Foundation.
For every donation made to Lifeline over the course of this 24-hour period, the Buildcorp Foundation will match it dollar for dollar up to a total of $250,000, with the goal of reaching a total of $2 million dollars donated to Lifeline since 2015.
Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australians aged 15 – 44 and the theme for 2024âs Giving Day âHelp at Handâ aims to raise funds and awareness of Lifelineâs 24/7 digital support channels including text and online chat for people in this age group which has grown up with technology.
More than a dozen Buildcorp construction sites and three head offices around Australia will put their âtools downâ at lunchtime on Wednesday 13 March for a team BBQ where hosts will facilitate conversations around mental health and encourage others to seek help when they need it.
Lifeline Australia CEO Colin Seery said: âWe are incredibly grateful for the ongoing support and generosity of the Buildcorp Foundation as this yearâs Principal Partner for Lifelineâs annual Giving Day on Wednesday 13 March.â
âWe understand that many are doing it tough at the moment, but with Buildcorpâs dollar matching support, your boosted donation will make a real difference in helping Lifeline ensure that no-one has to face their darkest moments alone.â
Buildcorp Foundation Chair and Buildcorp Principal Josephine Sukkar AM said: âStatistics tell us that young men working on a construction site are at twice the risk of taking their own lives than those working elsewhere in the community, so it is imperative to keep Lifelineâs digital services front of mind and for us to continue our support for them.
The Buildcorp Foundation is honoured to partner with Lifeline for their Giving Day for the next three years. We want to remind the community and our own people that help is available 24/7 and is as simple as connecting to the devices âat handâ such as your mobile phone or keyboard.â
If you, or someone you know, are feeling overwhelmed, we encourage you to connect with Lifeline in the way you feel most comfortable.
