Listed pure play land lease developer GemLife has appointed Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) veteran Adam Fairfax to the newly created role of Group Head of Investor Relations and Strategy.
With a 30-year career including roles at DWS, JP Morgan and Knight Frank, Mr Fairfax brings extensive experience spanning property valuation, REIT, analysis and specialist sales, equities and funds management, both in Australia and internationally.
His appointment follows GemLife, one of Australia’s fastest-growing vertically integrated developers and operators of land lease communities, listing on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX: GLF) in July, in the largest float of the year.
Established in 2015, GemLife has grown its development pipeline to include almost 10,000 homes across its over-50s lifestyle communities in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
GemLife Managing Director and Group CEO Adrian Puljich said Mr Fairfax, who will be based in Sydney, will play a key role in the company’s growing team of more than 400-staff Australia-wide.
“Adam will work closely with myself and our CFO, Ashmit Thakral, on our local and international investment partner network, while supporting our rapidly growing cohort of lifestyle community customers,” he said.
“This is a critical new role in our expanding team that will benefit greatly from Adam’s vast experience and contacts, both within Australia and globally.”
Mr Fairfax was previously Partner, Institutional Capital at Knight Frank, where he worked with real estate capital partners worldwide. Before that, he spent two decades with the listed real estate team at JP Morgan.
“I’m excited to join an asset specific, founder-led business that has a 40-plus year history under the one family, with significant demographic and macro supporting drivers that will continue to propel it and the sector, still in its infancy, forward,” said Mr Fairfax.
“In this new role, I will be working with my broad network of specialist and general investors domestically and abroad, as well as investment banking and equity markets professionals.
“GemLife’s team is young, enthusiastic and likeminded, and I’m looking forward to applying my multi-disciplinary real estate skills to help position the company for its strong and exciting future of growth.”
