Dedicated Asia coverage will ensure strategic expansion into high potential regional Living market opportunity.
JLL (NYSE: JLL) today announced the appointment of Lauren Hetherington as Senior Director, Living Capital Markets, Asia, effective immediately. Based in Singapore, Hetherington will spearhead JLL’s expansion into Asia’s rapidly-evolving Living investment sector, where demographic shifts and urbanisation are driving unprecedented demand for purpose-built residential solutions.
Hetherington joins from JLL’s UK Living Capital Markets team where she served as Director, bringing over 10 years of Living sector expertise. Based in London since 2018, she focussed on senior living, care homes, and residential healthcare assets. For JLL, she also covered Alternatives in Australia. Her career spans investment sales, financing, joint ventures, equity raising, operator selection and valuations across multiple geographies including the UK, US, the Middle East, and Australasia.
This appointment establishes JLL as a full-service advisory firm in Asia’s emerging Living sector, which encompasses multifamily, student accommodation, senior living, co-living, social/affordable housing, and corporate/workers accommodation. The Living division targets Asia’s demographic transformation, with JLL identifying a multi-decade Living sector opportunity, driven by rapid urbanization, ageing populations and ESG focused institutional investment in sustainable residential development.
“Lauren’s proven track record executing complex Living transactions and deep relationships with institutional capital sources and global operators make her ideally positioned to scale our Living platform across Asia,” said Nihat Ercan, CEO, JLL’s Hotels & Hospitality Group, Asia Pacific. “Her appointment also reflects the increased diversification of our existing Hotels clients into the Living sector, where we see strong synergies across our client base. This is one of the region’s fastest-growing real estate sectors, and we see tremendous opportunity for yield compression and capital deployment over the next decade.”
“Asia’s Living sector represents an exceptional opportunity to deliver institutional grade Living solutions that address fundamental demographic and urbanisation trends,” said Hetherington. “The convergence of rapid urban growth, aging populations, and evolving lifestyle preferences is creating substantial demand from investors for professionally operated residential assets across multiple subsectors. I look forward to leveraging my global experience to help clients execute strategic transactions, build partnerships with best-in-class operators, and capitalize on the significant capital allocation shift toward this compelling growth market.”
