Buxton Real Estate is showing that giving back is just as important as closing deals, supporting everything from cancer research and mental health advocacy to grassroots sports and school fundraisers. With offices across Victoria, Buxton directors and their teams have united around one clear message: real estate may be their profession, but community is their purpose.

This spirit of service is evident in Buxton’s network-wide involvement as a Presenting Partner of Connor’s Run, Australia’s largest event for paediatric brain cancer, taking place each September. It’s just one of many initiatives uniting offices across the state under a shared commitment to community impact.

Buxton’s support for the National Breast Cancer Foundation is another powerful example of its long-standing dedication, an 18-year partnership that continues to grow through fundraising efforts, local campaigns, and events driven by personal connection.

In Geelong, Director Matt Plunkett has helped raise over $100,000 for causes close to his heart. He’s called auctions at the Geelong Harness Racing Club’s “Dine for Pink” fundraiser in support of breast cancer research, saying, “If I can assist in raising money to prevent breast cancer from affecting another family, I’ll do whatever I can.” His community involvement is deeply personal, from supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Charity Night inspired by a friend’s son to backing local clubs like the Newtown & Chilwell Football Netball Club, where he helped raise $25,000 through their inaugural Hall of Fame Dinner.

In Melbourne’s southeast, Buxton Mentone Directors Wesley Belt and Mathew Cox have led the charge in supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation through their annual “Game Day Goes Pink” initiative with Parkdale Football & Netball Club. Belt, who proposed the partnership after losing his mother to cancer, reflects on its origins: “I didn’t įust want to write a cheque, I wanted to create real impact.”

“Our netballers wear pink bibs, our footy players wear pink socks, it’s all about awareness and action,” says Cox. “It wasn’t just about raising funds, it was about raising awareness. Partnering with local clubs, with over 300 members and players, gave us a powerful platform to spread the message about the importance of early detection”, says Cox.

Holly Longmuir and her team in Flinders have embedded themselves into the very fabric of the Peninsula community. From supporting the Flinders District Lions Club’s fundraising efforts, helping deliver everything from fetal heart monitors to a mobile hygiene van for people sleeping rough, to sponsoring junior athletes at Red Hill Basketball Club and lifesavers through Portsea’s Nippers Program, their reach is wide and heartfelt. “We’ve been able to help our community raise funds for those most in need, while making some incredible friendships along the way,” says Longmuir.

After losing his aunt to breast cancer, Buxton Dingley Village Director Steve Turner transformed his grief into purpose by launching the annual Pink October Charity Gala, raising a combined $55,000 in just two years. “It’s no use įust writing a cheque, you need to turn up and get involved,” says Turner. Now entering its third year, the event has become a staple in the community calendar, bringing together clients, businesses, and neighbours to support the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

In regional Victoria, Buxton Bendigo supported local community member Jed Zimmer in a jaw dropping four-day mental health awareness challenge. Jed’s endurance feat included rowing, skiing, swimming, and running over 300km in total, each stat tied to suicide prevention figures. “Stay in the fight,” was the mantra shared by Director Matt Leonard and the Buxton team, who turned up each day to support the event, which raised over $44,000. “When Jed was inįured and couldn’t continue, the community finished the challenge for him. It was a moment we’ll never forget.”

Buxton Inner West Director Matthew John is giving back to the community he grew up in, supporting Spotswood Primary School, where his father once attended. “It’s my way of staying connected to the next generation,” says John. Buxton’s sponsorship of the school’s Art Show raised over $10,000 and created a lasting memory for families, with parents still sharing how the event brought joy and excitement to their children.

Across Buxton offices, this community first mindset is not a side project it’s a core value. “What unites us is more than a brand. It’s a belief that real estate is about people, not įust property,” said Marcus Williams, CEO of Buxton Real Estate Group. “We’re incredibly proud of our directors for stepping up, year after year, to serve the communities they live and work in.”

From personal stories to powerful action, Buxton’s community efforts reflect a business that’s firmly rooted in something far greater than sales: a genuine desire to help shape a better future.

Editor’s Note:

Buxton’s community values are shared across all offices. In Ballarat, the team is actively involved in local initiatives including Minerdome Stadium and participation in Dancing with Our Stars, a charity event hosted by the Ballarat Foundation. Additionally, Ben Riddle, Director at Buxton Geelong, is a part-owner of the Geelong Basketball Team, proudly supporting the rising popularity of the women’s side.
