The retail strategy team behind the Sydney Metro Martin Place project – comprising Macquarie Group, Investa, and Colliers – has been awarded ‘Integrated Mixed-Use Mall of the Year – Australia’ at the prestigious Retail Asia Awards.

With exciting new tenant acquisitions and a focus on commerce, community, and convenience, the project has been recognised in the Retail Asia Awards as a landmark destination that has enhanced Sydney’s urban landscape and the commuter experience.

Colliers Head of Retail Agency, Australia, Michael Tuck, Senior Executive, Retail Agency, Jo Windybank and National Director, Retail Agency, Michael Bate completed the leasing campaign for the Metro Martin Place Project, securing a unique blend of on-trend and innovative tenants.

These include LUNE Croissanterie, Brooklyn Bridge Deli, Sneaker Laundry and Hubbed, with the development creating a whole new CBD precinct underground which seamlessly complements the surrounding heritage buildings and public transport nodes.

“The Sydney Metro Martin Place project’s recognition in the Retail Asia Awards reflects a successful collaboration between Macquarie, Colliers and Investa to deliver an innovative and diverse retail mix to commuters and the Sydney community,” Paul Brogan, Division Director, Metro Martin Place at Macquarie Group

“This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding projects I’ve worked on. Launching a brand-new commuter hub retail precinct campaign in the middle of COVID lockdowns was a daunting task, however the final product has been nothing short of exceptional. A product of collaboration, and special thanks to the expertise that Noble & Co’s Bridget Fea and Phil Aloisio brought to the retail delivery of 1 Elizabeth Street precinct,” Mr Tuck said.

“Working alongside both Macquarie Group and Investa to deliver a retail mix that was both diverse but carefully curated to bring a unique identity to the precinct and point of difference in the CBD retail landscape allowed us to creatively think outside the box and engage with new to market concepts which are now being rolled out in other States due to their success here,” Ms Windybank said.

“On behalf of the 39 Martin Place team and its owners, Investa Commercial Property Fund (ICPF) and Manulife, we’re delighted with the activation of the Sydney Metro Martin Place precinct. Retail makes an area a destination and provides our occupants with choice and convenience on their doorstep,”Peta Carey, General Manager, Real Estate Services at Investa said.

Working alongside Colliers Retail Agency, the project team developed a proactive tenancy design and leasing strategy that considered the balance of retail offering, the flexibility of tenancies and most importantly how the precinct can best service the Sydney community.

The Retail Asia Awards is a distinguished annual event that recognises and honours outstanding achievements, innovations, and excellence within the retail industry across the Asia-Pacific region.
