Hickory Launches FLEX Workspaces at Market Lane

25 November 2021

With Melbourne workers now allowed to return to the office, Melbourne builder and developer Hickory has announced the launch of FLEX @ Market Lane, the company’s own fleet of flexible workspaces.

Located at 68 Clarke Street, South Melbourne, FLEX workspaces have been designed around the principles of flexibility and professional freedom, by giving businesses room to scale up and down as needed. As Melbourne emerges from lockdown, the workspaces are intended to help businesses return to the office environment in their own time, giving them the flexibility to work remotely and at any time without paying for unused space.

The boutique flexible workspaces are located within Hickory’s Market Lane building, which has been dubbed “the non-office office” – an innovative space where smart design and high-tech functionality come together to deliver the office of the future. Featuring five levels of cutting-edge office accommodation, the state-of-art development takes on new design thinking to reinvent the way we work.

The premium FLEX workspaces offer a range of tenant perks, including high-tech meeting spaces, bespoke break-out rooms, private phone booths and high-speed Wi-Fi. Tenants have 24-hour secure access to the facilities, giving them the freedom to work during the hours that best suit them.

Boasting a 5-star NABERS rating and a 4-star Green Star rating, renowned architecture firm Elenberg Fraser designed Market Lane with tenant wellbeing in mind. FLEX workspaces reflect this dedication to human-centred design, with hotel-style end-of-trip facilities, a complimentary yoga studio and gym access all included in the membership fee.

Also recently opening to the public is FLEX’s new café, Square and Compass, which was crowned as one of Melbourne’s best new cafes when it first opened in East Melbourne in 2015. Now expanding to FLEX @ Market Lane, the much-loved café features on-trend, healthy brunch fare and specialty coffee in a sleek and modern space.

“Having recently relocated to Market Lane, we couldn’t be more impressed by the amazing amenities and facilities available to us in this location,” said George Abraham, Managing Director of Hickory.

“The new addition of FLEX workspaces to Market Lane offers a unique opportunity for businesses of all industries and sizes to experience everything Market Lane has to offer, as we grow our community here at Southbank,” he added.

Carlos Hernandez, General Manager at FLEX said that post-COVID, businesses will be looking for office solutions that are adaptable in price and lease length without sacrificing aesthetic design and amenity.

“With FLEX, we made it our mission to design beautiful, inspiring and inviting spaces that welcome employees back to work on their own terms – a space where businesses can connect, collaborate and grow together,” he said.

“We are excited to expand soon into other Hickory developments. FLEX is not just a desirable flexible workspace location, it is also the core platform that connects all of our tenants. FLEX manages the building facilities of our developments, providing an outstanding customer experience and community integration for both tenants and the daily visitors that will come to enjoy our amazing locations.”

There is a range of membership options on offer, with FLEX Day Passes starting from $45 per day, to entire Flex Premium offices starting from $1,760 per month.

In addition to the workspaces, FLEX also has a unique venue hire offering, with a range of intimate and larger spaces available for six to 60 people.

Hernandez said that the workspaces have been designed to foster a vibrant and welcoming culture.

“The integration of FLEX workspaces will bring a new energy and vibrant sense of community to the already buzzing Market Lane, with regular social events where all tenants are invited,” he said.

Positioned at the fringe of South Melbourne and Southbank, the premium location of FLEX provides the best of both worlds with easy access to the CBD, public transport and the Yarra precinct right on the doorstep.
